Vanpooling
Vanpools
are a great way to get from home to work and back.
Traditionally, five or more people share a vanpool. This can
greatly cut down commute costs and stress. Some employers may
offer vans within their own fleets for employee vanpools,
which would benefit employees by saving commute costs.
Capital
Metro offers a vanpool service for at least 5 participants
that includes a late model van, fuel, maintenance and
insurance for as low as $25 a month...and the primary driver
rides free! For
more information on CapMetro's Vanpool program, or to be
matched with a potential vanpool, visit http://www.capmetro.org/riding/van_pool.asp,

Carpooling
Carpooling
is very simple. You only need one or more passengers or
"buddies" to create a carpool. There many ways
to handle a carpool. By alternating vehicles and drivers
equally among carpool buddies, the issue of money can be
ignored. Another option might be to pick up carpool
buddies that live farther away who could share
in the cost of fuel. Carpooling details can be ironed out
easily among buddies. To find a carpool buddy, talk to
your coworkers, neighbors and friends. You might even ask
the Human
Resources office at your work site to help find someone that lives
within your zip code.
If
you live or work in the Capital
Metro Service Area, CapMetro offers a program to help match you
with a carpool buddy. With
thousands of listings of employees in Central Texas, CapMetro
can help by providing you with
a ride match
list of others who live and work near you with similar
work schedules. A Carpool Tip Sheet is also offered to help you set up your Carpool rules.
